Dr. Kara Haines DACM, Dipl. O.M., L.Ac.
I, Kara Haines, am a world traveler who fell in love with Oriental Medicine while living and volunteering in Costa Rica. After personally experiencing what acupuncture could do, I decided to learn how to provide the same "magical" effects for others. I have a Bachelors degree in Psychology from the University of Colorado in Boulder, a Masters of Science in Traditional Oriental Medicine, and my Doctorate of Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine from Pacific College of Oriental Medicine, San Diego.
As an intern, I worked with world renowned acupuncturists in a San Diego clinic. I also provided acupuncture treatments to the homeless and underserved population in Pacific Beach, California. Eventually, I packed my bags and went to sea, working as an acupuncturist and herbalist on cruise ships for nearly two years. While cruising the world, I witnessed the rapid recovery times of patients, vacationers and crew, being treated with acupuncture for many different ailments. By providing a course of treatments over a short period of time, the body is able to benefit at a more efficient rate. I encourage this form of treatment on land as well, and provide a relaxing environment where you can heal and take a mini vacation at the same time!
I feel fortunate to have found a calling in a career that I am passionate about. This medicine not only allows me to help others, it inspires and motivates me to further my knowledge, overcome obstacles, and feel accomplished along the way. If you love what you do, you never work a day in your life.
